De sectie Innovation, Privacy and Technology (IP&T) van Pels Rijcken, bestaande uit zo'n 14 juristen, begeleidt haar cliënten bij innovaties op het gebied van artificial intelligence, blockchain, smart contracts, data en smart cities. Het team is vanaf het begin af aan betrokken bij de ontwikkeling en implementatie van innovaties en werkt nauw samen met ontwikkelaars, programmeurs en bouwers, om de juridische eisen direct in de techniek te bouwen.
Zij zijn gespecialiseerd in het beantwoorden van juridische vraagstukken die spelen bij nieuwe technologieën, zoals die op het gebied van privacy (de AVG), intellectueel eigendom (simulcasting als openbaarmaking, IE op SaaS), mensenrechten (uitingsvrijheden, het recht op informatiegaring, het recht om vergeten te worden), contractenrecht (fatale termijnen en IT), aansprakelijkheidsrecht (AI en autonoom vervoer) en regelgeving inzake open overheid en bestuurlijke ketens.
De sectie Innovation, Privacy and Technology adviseert bedrijven en overheden die innovaties inzetten om hun processen te verbeteren. Onze ervaring is dat als in het beginstadium van een innovatietraject wordt nagedacht over de juridische aspecten van een innovatie, de innovatie in een stroomversnelling komt.
Zij adviseren onder andere APG en PGGM bij het realiseren van hun ambitie de pensioenadministratie onder te brengen in een blockchain, het Zorginstituut Nederland bij één van de eerst werkende blockchainapplicaties 'Mijn Zorg Log' en diverse gemeenten, waaronder Den Haag, Amsterdam en Eindhoven, bij de totstandkoming van hun smart city-ambities.
