Gerrit-Jan Zwenne

Gerrit-Jan Zwenne is gezaghebbend advocaat op het gebied van privacy- en gegevensbeschermingsrecht. Hij heeft ruime ervaring op het gebied van internet- en telecomrecht en juridische vraagstukken rondom blockchain, cloud en sensordata. Gerrit-Jan zet zijn kennis en ervaring in om brancheverenigingen, multinationals, startups, toezichthouders en vele overheden te adviseren over digitalisering.

Gerrit-Jan studeerde Nederlands recht aan de Universiteit Leiden en verdedigde in 1998 aan dezelfde universiteit zijn dissertatie ’Belastingheffing en Informatieverplichtingen’. Hij is hoogleraar Recht en de informatiemaatschappij aan de Universiteit Leiden en hij wordt daarnaast per 1 juni 2023 hoogleraar Gegevensbescherming in de Nederlandse rechtspraktijk aan de Open Universiteit. Voor zijn komst naar Pels Rijcken in 2018 was Gerrit-Jan partner bij Brinkhof en Bird & Bird. Gerrit-Jan schreef diverse preadviezen over digitalisering, waaronder voor de Nederlandse Juristen Vereniging, de Vereniging voor Gezondheidsrecht en de Vereniging voor Onderwijsrecht. Daarnaast is hij voorzitter van de Vereniging Privacyrecht-Advocaten (VPR-A) en bestuurslid van de Vereniging Privacyrecht (VPR). Gerrit-Jan is lid van Adviescommissie informatiehuishouding JenV, de Adviescommissie Rechtsstatelijkheid van de Nederlandse Orde van Advocaten, de Raad van Advies van het Nationaal Archief, hoofddocent van de VPR-A Specialisatieopleiding privacy- en gegevensbeschermingsrecht en docent en examinator in de VIRA-Grotius opleiding voor ICT-recht advocaten. Tot slot is hij redacteur (en auteur) van Tekst & Commentaar Privacy- en gegevensbeschermingsrecht (8e druk 2022), Concise European Data Protection, E-Commerce and IT Law, het Tijdschrift voor internetrecht en Sdu Monografieën ICT-recht.
