Elisabeth Pietermaat joined Pels Rijcken’s Administrative Law team in 2000 and became partner in 2009. Elisabeth specialises in constitutional and administrative law. Elisabeth is an authority on government transparency (Woo) and other constitutional issues relating to domestic governance, such as integrity issues, obligations of directors to provide information, the Elections Act, and referenda. Elisabeth is also an expert on market regulation, particularly in the field of healthcare. She regularly represents the Dutch Healthcare Authority in cases concerning the financing of healthcare. Her clients include the Minister for Asylum & Migration and the Dutch Immigration and Naturalisation Service for migration law. Elisabeth has been a board member of Pels Rijcken since April 2021.
Elisabeth is a regular contributor to professional journals. Together with Nina Bontje, for example, she writes the Chronicle on transparency and integrity in the Dutch Administrative Law Journal. She also serves as a guest lecturer for the Association of Dutch Municipalities, the Study Centre for the Administration of Justice and Utrecht University, among others. Elisabeth is a member of the Sounding Board Group on Legal Formation of Administrative Law established by the chairman of the Administrative Jurisdiction Division in 2015. She is also a member of the Dutch Administrative Law Association and the Health Law Association.
