Monique Hazelhorst has been an attorney-at-law in Pels Rijcken's Criminal Law and Supreme Court Law sections since 2025. In her cassation practice, she advises and litigates in a range of civil law matters. She also represents various government agencies within the criminal justice system.
After obtaining her bachelor's degree in Law from Utrecht University, Monique completed the English-language Legal Research Master at the same university in 2012. In 2016, she earned her PhD from Erasmus University Rotterdam with a dissertation on the free movement of judgments within the European Union. She then spent over eight years as a judicial assistant at the Supreme Court, where she gained extensive experience in civil cassation proceedings.
Monique also serves as a deputy judge at the Midden-Nederland District Court. She is an editor of the Groene Serie commentary on family law and regularly publishes in legal journals.
