Martijn Kloppenburg has been with Pels Rijcken since 2002, focusing on liability law, in particular the liability of financial companies with regard to duty of care or investment insurance. Martijn regularly litigates on behalf of his clients before Dutch civil courts and the Financial Services Complaints Board (Kifid) and is involved in various Dutch class action suits. He also assists Dutch regulatory authorities in cases regarding market manipulation. Having a science background, Martijn is uniquely able to understand complex (damage) cases and market manipulation.
He received his master’s degree in Dutch Civil Law and Astronomy from Leiden University, and was winner of the moot court competition of the Dutch National Young Lawyers Bar Association.
