Xander de Vries joined the Planning and Environment Law team at Pels Rijcken in 2024. Previously, he worked at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs for two years. At Pels Rijcken, Xander advises and litigates both in civil and administrative cases in the field of environmental (liability) law. His focus is on large and complex proceedings related to climate change and environmental damage that involve human rights elements.
Xander graduated cum laude with an LLB in Global Law (with honors) at Tilburg University in 2020 and spent a semester at the University of New South Wales in Sydney. Following this, he pursued the Master's degree in International Business Law: Climate Change and Sustainability at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. He graduated cum laude in 2022. During his studies, Xander completed several internships and wrote for a major legal magazine.
