Arie Tervoort joined Pels Rijcken as of counsel in 2016. He works across the spectrum of corporate law with a focus on corporate governance, partnership law, corporate law and annual accounting law. His clients include government agencies, large companies, family businesses, family offices and leading accountancy and tax consultancy firms.
Arie studied civil and commercial law at Radboud University Nijmegen and earned his doctorate cum laude from Erasmus University Rotterdam. His dissertation was awarded the Erasmus School of Law Prize 2013 for the best dissertation of that year. Before joining Pels Rijcken, Arie worked in different positions for more than 35 years, including as a corporate lawyer and later as Chief Legal Officer at Anthos International, the family office of the Brenninkmeijer family. Arie is a Fellow at the Zuidas Institute for Financial Law and Corporate Law at VU Amsterdam. He regularly publishes and lectures on corporate law topics. He was former chairman of the Dutch Business Lawyers Association, member of the State Committee for Private International Law, member of the Ministerial Expert Group on Simplification and Flexibilisation of Private Company Law (De Kluiver Committee), and chairman of the Stichting Pensioenfonds Provisum.
