Launch Hague Rules on Business Human rights

The Hague Rules on Business Human rights were officially launched at a well-attended symposium hosted by the Permanent Court of Arbitration in the Peace Palace in the Hague on December 12. The Secretary General of the Permanent Court delivered the opening remarks. Chair of the drafting team of the rules Bruno Simma handed over the first copies to dr. Bahia Tahzib-Lie, Human Rights Ambassador of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs and ms. Saskia Bruines, Alderman of the City of The Hague. The drafting team included members from different backgrounds and had a global spread, The Hague Rules on Business and Human Rights entail a new, consensual and flexible remedy mechanism for both vulnerable people and business in accordance with the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business Human Rights-based corporate responsibility to respect human rights globally through a new set of customized arbitration rules which may contribute to filling the judicial remedy gap.
